Finding a specific song, in a large music collection, can be difficult if you fail to tag it properly. It can be quite annoying if one or more songs are listed as "Track 1" in a playlist, but it is not difficult to edit their metadata, especially when there are so many tag editors on the Internet. Jaikoz looks and feels like any other tag editor, but its unique functionality makes it stand out in a crowd. Its main advantage is the ability of gathering missing metadata or correcting existing information automatically, by using acoustic fingerprints from your audio files.

The software's installation file is close to 30 MB, which may take a while to download with slow Internet connections. Fortunately, you can make up for lost time, thanks to the straightforward installation procedure. The best part is that Jaikoz is based on Java, which makes it compatible with MS Windows, Mac OS X and Linux platforms.

The loaded audio files are displayed in the same list, but you can filter them by specific genres, artists or albums. Jaikoz uses existing metadata to make these filters available, in separate lists. If your files are missing important details (title, artist, etc), you can use different options, on the software's toolbar, to retrieve their acoustic IDs and auto-correct any information. Depending on which options you select, Jaikoz will connect to different servers, like Acoustid, MusicBrainz or Discogs, to retrieve and correct metadata.

When using acoustic IDs to acquire information about your music, the probability of successful process is quite high, but there is still a chance that you will not find what you are looking for. This is why Jaikoz lets you manually edit tag information. When you select a file, you will find a summary of its existing metadata on the lower part of the interface and you can edit any information, from title or artist to cover art or barcode. There are numerous fields, for all sorts of details and you can find them on separate tabs.

Other features include correcting metadata from MusicBrainz manually, generating a list of missing songs from one of your albums, exporting your data as a .csv or .xls file, deleting duplicate files and more. It should be also mentioned that Jaikoz provides support for MP4, M4A, M4P, MP3, WMA, Flac and OggVorbis files.

Pros

The software can retrieve metadata and tag your audio files automatically, but you can do it manually as well. The available functions are easy to understand and you can use the application with various audio formats. Jaikoz is cross-platform, which means that it works just as well on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

Cons

The program's setup file is a bit large, making it difficult to download with slower Internet connections. Jaikoz is capable of automatically correcting missing or erroneous data, renaming audio files or edit their ID tags. Its well organized interface allows you to perform any task fast and easy.
